Executive Assistant to the President and Chief Development Officer
The Trust for Governors Island seeks a full-time Executive Assistant to support the President and Chief Development Officer in their job functions and generally serving as representative of the roles and the organization. The Executive Assistant schedules all meetings for The Trust’s President and CDO, manages their calendars and answers their phones as needed. The Executive Assistant executes all follow up from meetings and tracks a wide range of projects/tasks executed by the President.
Associate Curator and Project Manager
The Trust for Governors Island seeks a full-time Associate Curator & Project Manager to provide support to the VP of Arts & Culture on the Island’s public art program, developing new public programs and working directly with artists, partner organizations and contractors on the realization and production of projects, and is responsible for managing the Island’s cultural program in Nolan Park and Colonels Row houses, acting as the Island’s programming liaison for the Trust’s seasonal cultural organizations in residence program. The Associate Curator & Project Manager reports to the VP of Arts & Culture and works collaboratively with the Public Affairs team, including communications and events, as well as the operations, legal and finance teams.
The Trust for Governors Island seeks a full-time, year-round Motorpool Mechanic. The Mechanic is responsible for daily inspection, maintenance, testing and repairs of the Island’s small equipment, power hand tools and landscape equipment as well as a fleet of gas and electric service carts, passenger and miscellaneous vehicles. This position will report to the Trust’s Senior Landscape Manager and Lead Landscaper and will work with the broader Operations team. This position requires superior organizational, interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively as a team member in a fast-paced environment.
The Trust for Governors Island seeks a full-time Operations Manager to manage the ongoing site operations of Governors Island. The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring the Island operates efficiently and safely for the public and all members of the Governors Island community. Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, the Operations Manager works collaboratively to expedite work and site logistics with the on-site operations team. This is a hands-on role that requires daily work outdoors coordinating the activities of a field team. This position requires weekend work.
The Trust for Governors Island seeks a full-time, Landscaper. Reporting to the Trust’s Senior Landscape Manager and/or Lead Landscaper, the Landscaper will work with a broader team of landscapers to care for and maintain the Island’s diverse grounds and lawns.

The Trust for Governors Island is seeing a Custodian to join the Facilities team reporting to the Facilities Supervisor. This is a full-time position (through December) that requires weekend work. The Custodian will work with a diverse team to achieve the highest standards of cleanliness in buildings and public restrooms on the Island.
The Trust for Governors Island seeks a full-time, seasonal Groundskeeper. The Groundskeeper is part of the Operations team and reports to the Operations Manager. This is a 6‑month position (from July-December) that requires weekend work. The Groundskeeper is responsible for providing daily hands-on work that contributes to keeping the Island, open spaces, and structures throughout the Island in a clean and safe condition for all Island visitors.
Assistant Chief Engineer
The Trust for Governors Island seeks an Assistant Chief Engineer to support the entire engineering team and their work in collaboration with the Chief Engineer. The Assistant Chief Engineer will work alongside the Chief Engineer to create work plans and execute work in the field, as well as overseeing a successful apprenticeship program in the training and execution of their responsibilities, and filling in for the Chief Engineer in their absence.
National Park Service, Governors Island National Monument:
Park Ranger (full-time, permanent)
The National Park Service is hiring Park Ranger positions at Manhattan sites, including the Governors Island National Monument. These positions are located in Manhattan Sites, in one of the nine individually legislated units. The work involves presenting a complete and highly varied suite of structured programs (e.g., talks, tours, presentations, etc.) and providing related services to visitors.
